Kidney Stones and Urinary Oxalate

Oxalate combines readily with calcium to create the most common forms of kidney stones, calcium oxalate kidney stones. Oxalate is a mineral made by plants and our own bodies make it to a small degree. It’s a waste product for us with no nutritional value as far as we know. Therefore, if you are a kidney stone former you may want to limit the amount of oxalate in your diet by limiting high oxalate foods.
